During the night of an eclipse, a raccoon lights a beacon to illuminate the wood. The blackbirds, observing the light, mistakenly believe that Christmas has arrived, and they hurry to turn on all the lights hidden among the trees for the occasion, waking up rabbits, badgers and foxes who, rubbing their eyes, look around and shout: “It’s Christmas! We need to prepare the dinner!” And so, from a little misunderstanding, one after the other, all the animals of the wood prepare for an out-of-season Christmas, bringing light, warmth and a lot of wonder to the Old North Forest.

Angelo Mozzillo was born in Naples and lives in Milan. He writes short stories, screenplays, reportage, and rhyming tales. He is the author of the humorous mystery series Detective Linus, the novel The Little Gatsby, and the hilarious travel diary The Woods Are Nice but I Wouldn’t Live There (all published by Il Battello a Vapore).
His recent picture books include I Wrote a Book for You (But This Isn’t It) (Camelozampa), An Important Secret(Minibombo), and Monsieur Claquette’s Sunday (Rizzoli). His book I Am a Leaf (Bacchilega Junior) won both the Andersen Prize and the Super Andersen Prize in 2021.

Martina Tonello is an illustrator with experience in woodworking. She was born in 1993 and lives in the Apennine Mountains near Bologna, where she explores the woods in search of animals and stories. As both an author and illustrator of picture books, she has published with various publishers, including Terre di Mezzo, Camelozampa, Mondadori ElectaKids, Comme des géants, and Milky Way Picture Book.
