Blanche. Intrigues & Reunions – vol. 5

Adventure

By day, she’s a lady; by night, she fights with a sword: this is her life as a spy!

Once again, Blanche finds herself compelled to foil Richelieu’s schemes against Queen Anne. But this time, she must also protect her family! The Order of the Musketeers is celebrating its thirtieth anniversary, and for the occasion Athos, Porthos, and Aramis have been invited to court. Yet these festivities do not please Richelieu in the least, who sees in them a personal affront. He then demands that Blanche help him ensnare the three musketeers by deciphering the coded journal of her mother—the ever-enigmatic Milady de Winter… Between the cardinal’s plots and the many secrets that continue to surround her family, the young spy is far from having seen the end of her troubles!

  • Secrets and subterfuge, twists and duels: life at court is an incredible adventure.
  • A strong and brave protagonist who fights tirelessly, using her intellect—and, most importantly, her heart.

Angélique Chevalier

Little is known about Angélique Chevalier’s life. However, records show at least three women by this name who, at different times between the late 1600s and the late 1800s, printed short and diverse works in Reims, just outside Paris. It is believed that the name Angélique may have passed from grandmother to granddaughter, or perhaps it was simply a nom de plume.

This raises the intriguing possibility that at least one of these Angéliques was truly a woman of the French court—a would-be swordswoman, a lady-in-waiting, and Queen Anne of Austria’s personal spy. All excellent reasons, we think, to hide behind a pseudonym.
