Twelve-year-old Iris Cloudsaway has inherited something special: magic runs through her veins. She finds this out one day when her grandma, who has officially been dead for five years, starts talking to her from a photograph. But that’s just the beginning. The neighbourhood she lives in hides forgotten secrets, there are buildings that are not what they seem, and a mysterious boy who understands the language of birds. Amid improvised spells, mysteries to solve and a city that hides more than it shows, Iris will have to learn to master her power before the truth gets out of hand.
