In an alternate late nineteenth century, Mimì has managed to clear her sister Léa of accusations of witchcraft. Now she has decided to join forces with a young lawyer, John, to investigate a series of cases in Geneva—but before long, she finds herself entangled once again with Post Tenebras. Association, sect, or secret society—no one quite knows what it is, but for John and Mimì, it is certainly an enemy to be hunted down. Complicating matters further is John’s mother, who becomes convinced that her son would make the perfect husband for Léa: Mimì’s heart is torn between two very different loves…

Valentina Federici lives in Switzerland, amidst the mountains and Lake Geneva, but grew up in Perugia in a house with only one children's book. As an avid reader, she solved this problem by inventing her own stories, a practice she continued even after becoming a lawyer. With Il Castoro, she published Viaggio oltre l'ignoto and Post Tenebras. Morte alla strega, and she contributed to the short story collection Storie di montagna for Gallucci.
