The Apparition of Baozhai. The Nightmares of Howard Lovecraft (Vol. 1)
What if dreams were more real than reality itself?
Providence, 1906. Howard is just 16, but he’s already the future “Solitary of Providence” everyone will come to know. He writes poems and short stories in worn notebooks and self-publishes scientific bulletins. A curious and active boy, he’s passionate about chemistry, astronomy, and the works of Poe and Wells. He loves exploring the outskirts of his city on foot or by bike. But his life is a mess — and so is his mind. Lately, he’s been plagued by strange dreams and terrible headaches. To others, he’s just an odd kid who skips school and visits a psychiatrist, but he couldn’t care less. He sees things others don’t: unknown planets, shadowy places, terrifying creatures. And then there’s her, Baozhai Carter — half Chinese, half English, almond-shaped eyes, a cheeky grin, and courage to spare. Sadly, she’s only a dream apparition… or maybe only part of her. In his dreams, Howard meets her and embarks on incredible adventures together, helping her solve mysteries and get out of trouble. Until one day, Baozhai comes knocking at his door for real…
