The Lost Flower of the Shaman of K
She took him into the world and he kept her safe in it.
Peru, 1986. When Laila is admitted to the neurology clinic in Lima, she doesn’t go unnoticed: the daughter of a Finnish diplomat, with her striking blond hair, quickly catches the attention of the young patients in the pediatric ward. Especially El Rato, the boy with the sharpest tongue Laila has ever encountered. By chance, the two stumble upon a strange diary, written in 1941 by a certain Dr. Clarke, and become fascinated by a drawing of a rare flower used by the shamans of the K. tribe — a flower that, according to Clarke’s notes, holds powerful healing properties. Just then, Laila receives her diagnosis: the doctors have finally managed to put a name to her illness — a name that leaves little hope. Or maybe not. There is still one thing the two friends can do together: find the Lost Flower, which might heal Laila… and change both of their destinies. So begins a long and unexpected journey that will take them from the Andes to the Amazon rainforest, facing terrorists, drug traffickers, and the majestic yet unforgiving forces of nature.
