What a Story! The Invention of Writing

Historical

Adventures of Yesterday for Today’s Readers

History isn’t just what’s taught in school. It is also—and above all—the great tale of thrilling, inspiring, unpredictable, and sometimes frightening events… yet all real. A series of books that brings slices of history to life for today’s readers.

The Invention of Writing is a fascinating journey into the origins of the written word: from the first marks carved into stone and clay to the alphabetic systems that transformed communication. This book guides young readers (and curious adults!) through hieroglyphs, cuneiform tablets, and medieval scripts, revealing how writing has shaped our civilization.

  • Incredible true stories from ancient times to the modern era.
  • Each volume includes short sections for deeper exploration: facts, curiosities, and anecdotes.

From the same series (What a Story!) also: The Ascent of Everest, King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table by Pierdomenico Baccalario; The Birth of the Computer by Andrea Tullio Cannobbio; The Gladiators in Rome by Igor De Amicis and Paola Luciani; 1969: The First Man on the Moon, Apollo 13, The Airplane: Conquering the Sky by Christian Hill; September 11, The Eruption of Pompeii by Davide Morosinotto; The Day Against the Mafias by Daniele Nicastro; Hannibal and the Elephants, Cave Paintings, The Discovery of Fire, The Extinction of the Dinosaurs, The Pyramids of Egypt by Jacopo Olivieri.
