The Forest
Humans have vanished. Who will inherit their place in the world?
Every year, in the Burrow, everyone eagerly awaits the Drawing. One hundred younglings will be chosen to leave and join the Sacred Family—a group of canaries once favored by the Ancient Gods. That’s what humans are called: long gone from the Earth, yet worshipped as deities by the animals. When Ves, the smallest mouse in the entire Burrow, is selected alongside his friends Astrid and Claude, it marks the beginning of a journey filled with adventure, danger, hope, and pride. But for Beth, Ves’s mother, a far more difficult journey begins. Her attempt to bring her only child back becomes entangled with the painful necessity of letting him grow and find his own path. Along this dual journey—marked by struggle, uncertainty, and disillusionment—each of them will be forced to question everything they believe, in search of a new place to belong.
